The story follows the unlikely friends through adventures of the world in their quests to find purpose and belonging.

A pair unlikely friends meet at the local bar, The Dock, and communal hot spot in coastal town Sailsburgh. One day after Soloman has a heated argument with his father/owner of the store he works at, he decides to blow off steam and think about the future at the bar. Marren, the bartender forced to hear Soloman ramble on about leaving town and starting his rock-n-roll career like he always wanted, eventually flatly tells the broken-down wizard that if he wants to go follow his dreams it would be better, he does or get out of the bar and quit complaining. This sets already fired up Solman to try to set off. Later seeing him in the alley way, Marren picks up drunken Soloman from a pile of trash as he was mugged immediately after setting off. Marren scares off the muggers and dusts the wizard off with some more words of wisdom. Deciding they too want a new life (and secretly feeling Soloman could use the help), the pair head off into the forest.
